The University of Almería (UAL) is a research-education oriented public university founded in 1993. Some figures of merit are: 30 degrees available, 681 professors, ca. 12000 students (600 Ph. D. students), 13 departments (125 research groups) and 6 research institutes. In spite of its recent creation, the UAL has modern infrastructures and laboratories supported by an excellent library. The links with the business world operate through the Research Results Transfer Office (OTRI) and the participation in international projects is managed through the European and International Projects Office (OPI) (e.g., 9 projects funded by FP7). In addition, the UAL participates in three “Campus of International Excellence” (CEI program funded by the Spanish Government).
