Project Coordinator.

Sara M. Soto (Coordinator of the NoMorFilm project) is Associate Research Professor in the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and Associate Professor of Microbiology at the Universidad de Barcelona, in Spain. She leads the research group on biofilms and neonatal sepsis/obstetric infections of ISGlobal which is part of the Host pathogens interactions Area at ISGlobal. One research line is prevention and treatment of bacterial infections on pregnant women and neonates (Escherichia coli and Streptococcus agalactiae), by virulence and antimicrobial resistance studies in order to develop new fast diagnostic test and improve the treatment. Another research line is focused on study new ways to inhibe the bacterial biofilms formation and disruption. In the NoMorFilm project, this group carries out research on effectiveness of compounds isolated from microalgae against biofilm-forming bacteria and fungi, toxicity studies and determination of the way of action of these compounds in E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
